On the perch with Birch — podcast
Thursday, 5th Dec 2013 18:00 by LFW

Former QPR midfielder and current QPR youth coach Marc Bircham is the guest on this week’s Open All R’s Podcast.

Speaking about his famous last minute winner at Brentford, Bircham said: “It wasn’t my best goal for QPR, but it was the most memorable. Just before we got the corner we had a throw and a QPR fan told me Tranmere were winning which would have put us out of the play offs. It went out for a corner, Gino shanked it to the edge of the box to me, I managed to catch it just right and it flew in the top corner. Right at the QPR end. Fans coming on the pitch.”

And on the present day QPR side, he added: “So much has changed, a year at QPR is like a dog life, it’s like seven years somewhere else. That’s QPR, that’s what I’m used to, when I was growing up it was Jm Gregory being a bit of a spiv and Terry Venables ducking and diving. We didn’t do it easy when Neil Warnock was manager. Anyone who has been a QPR supporter as long as me knows we never do anything easy so I don’t expect us to get promoted with ten games left, that’s not QPR, but I do think we will get promoted.”

Bircham is joined on the podcast by host David Fraser, regulars Chris Mendes and Paul Finney, and journalist Ian McCullough.
